DRTV campaign created for Friends of the Earth

Wednesday 31st of October 2007

Watson Phillips Norman (WPN), a direct marketing specialist, has created Friends of The Earth's first ever direct response television marketing (DRTV) campaign.

Set to run on digital channels including Challenge, Five Life, ITV 3, Movies for Men, and UKTV History, the ad features the voice of Griff Rhys Jones, who lent his services to Friends of The Earth for free. It aims to raise awareness of the effects of climate change and to also recruit new support.

"The creative idea for this ad is extremely visual. It dramatises ways to save on our energy consumption, as well as the financial savings to be made," Maria Phillips, WPN's creative director, commented.

"Friends of the Earth were keen to appeal to members of the public who are interested in the environment, but not currently engaged or involved in their work. Therefore the suggestions made in the free guide reflect this and can be implemented by anyone."

John O'Driscoll, commonly perceived to be one of the most experienced directors working in the Direct TV market, was hired to direct the WPN creative.
