Event management companies garner government recognition

The activities of event management companies are to be recognised in a government strategy for the creative industries, it has been observed.
Sector publication Meetpie reports that the Business Tourism Partnership has greeted the commitment to address issues pertaining to the industry positively.
The partnership has lobbied for some time for event management companies' undertakings to be recognised as an essential part of promoting the UK's reputation as a location for creative events and innovation.
Michael Hirst, chairman of the Business Tourism Partnership, said: "This is an important first step to getting the events industry into mainstream government strategic planning."
Meanwhile, earlier this month the Business Tourism Partnership indicated its intention to change its name to the Business Visits and Events Partnership to better communicate its concerns and priorities in terms of promoting the UK's event management companies.
At the same time, a new drive for greater enlistment of trade associations and government agencies was announced.
