Saturday 26th of January 2008
The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has announced that sustainability will be the theme for its 2008 conference.
The annual two-day event will take place in Oxford in March and will play host to a number of green issue speakers including Jeff Sorrill, from the Green Roof Centre, outlining environmental building modifications.
Douglas Cooke, of Principle Cleaning Services, will also be on hand to address how supporting local people and economies can help address the difficulties of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
Meanwhile, a number of educational establishments are upgrading their on-site facilities to make a mark on the conferencing scene.
Sally Dunsmore, director of Conference Oxford, claimed that universities were becoming ideal venues due to their location and on-site accommodation.
She wrote on the MyVenues website: "Universities offer outstanding purpose-built meeting and accommodation facilities set in unique environments."
