Melbourne unveil green convention centre
Tuesday 22nd of January 2008
The new Melbourne Convention Centre has been awarded a six Green Star environmental rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
The rating, which is the first of its kind for a convention centre, was handed to the centre for its proposals to recycle and lower emissions on the site when it opens next year, Meetpie reports.
Chief executive of the £448 million centre, Leigh Harry, claimed that the building would help inspire a better green attitude in delegates and companies that use its facilities.
He said: "As a team we are dedicated to ensuring our business is conducted in an environmentally friendly way.
"This covers everything from the way we recycle and/or dispose of waste to how we educate our clients to ensure they too are thinking about the environment in the way they run their meetings, events or conferences," he added.
Meanwhile, event management company Logistik has been busy giving environmental assistance to Lloyds TSB at their annual conference at the NEC in Birmingham.
Logistik helped the bank with its waste management and recycling over the three day event.
