Eventia and the British Association of Conference Destinations (BACD) are in discussions over a possible merger that could change the face of the event management industry.
The merger of the groups will be put to respective members shortly, with the boards of both organisations hopeful that the move will be approved, Meetpie reports
Nigel Cooper, a board member with Eventia, has suggested that the move would have a massive effect on the events management industry both domestically and globally.
He told the publication: "This is a great opportunity for the industry. I'm looking forward to finalising our discussions and to creating a new and powerful group that will really raise our voice and profile not only to our community of events, meetings and travel professionals but also to businesses in the UK and the rest of the world."
