The proposed redevelopment of Manchester's Museum of Science and Industry (Mosi), will provide more good news to the ever-expanding events management sector.
The £54 million project will provide the museum with the capacity to hold large conferences and events for up to 750 guests.
Ian Griffin, director of Mosi, revealed that the plans will provide a totally new experience for event guests and conference delegates.
He said: "It will also create a unique conference and events space where guests can meet and do business against a stunning backdrop featuring some of the region's world-changing inventions."
"There will be nothing quite like it in the UK," he added.
If funding for the move is approved, the building work will get underway in 2009.
Meanwhile, the value of the UK hotel market has surged by 29 per cent over the last five years - thanks to the renewed importance of event management.
The sector is now valued at £14 billion with a number of chains creating specific brands aimed at conferences and meeting rooms.
