Event management boosts hotel sector
Thursday 13th of December 2007
The value of the UK hotel market has surged by almost 29 per cent in the last five years - largely due to the value of event management, new research has revealed.
According to Research and Markets, the hotel sector was valued at £14 billion in 2006, with hotels effectively making use of the corporate need for conferencing and meeting rooms.
In addition a number of hotel chains have begun extending their events management facilities, in some instances operating separate brands specifically targeting corporate consumers.
Meanwhile, Universal Event Management and Big Traffic Mobile Billboards Worldwide have announced a strategic partnership agreement.
The deal is thought to be the first such link up between an event management firm and an outdoor advertising company.
Claiming that the agreement would be a money spinner for the firms, Charlie Greco, chief executive of Universal Event Management, said: "There are significant industry trends which are affecting our ability to add value, as well as generate additional revenues for show managers."
