PR industry 'stuck in a rut'

The PR industry is increasingly hiring ex-bloggers as they try to approach blog writers and get them to create posts on their behalf, it has been claimed.
Blogger Brian Solis says that PR is currently "experiencing some of the greatest innovations and advancements in quite some time", due in large part to "all things social media". But instead of thinking of new ways of getting in touch people, the PR industry is "same old marketing ethics and tactics to spam its recipients".
PR people are not spending enough time to understand what bloggers are trying to represent and the audience they are trying to reach, Mr Solis claims. And they are also spending far too little time thinking about how the news they offer will aid the blogger they are trying to build a relationship with.
"It blows me away at how few people take the time to read what I write and match their products/services to the most important part of this blog, you [the reader]," he states.
